Born and raised in Bulgaria, Svetlana Atcheva came to Toronto, Canada to study Archeology at University of Toronto and in the meantime quickly fell in love with the world of wine. Before joining Pearl Morissette, she emerged as one of the most respected sommeliers in Toronto’s restaurant industry and established a reputation for building original and dynamic wine lists representing unknown producers from all over the world. She joined Pearl Morissette in 2012 when it was still an unknown winery producing wines that stood outside of the general norm of wines from the Niagara Peninsula. A boutique winery located on the Niagara Peninsula just outside of the picturesque village of Jordan in 2012, Pearl Morissette is a unique partnership born in 2007, between Toronto-based developer Mel Pearl and Morissette. In the past 5 years, she’s been an integral part in establishing Pearl Morissette as a leader in the winemaking industry in Canada and a highly respected producer at home and on an international stage.
