Jeremy McLean is Program Manager – Examination Practice, Patent Branch of CIPO and has been a member of the Examination Practice group in Patent Branch since June 2016.
Jeremy’s area of responsibility encompasses the practice framework for the examination of patent applications. This responsibility includes ensuring that the practice framework conforms to the relevant legislation, rules and jurisprudence as well as supporting patent examiners in applying the framework.
Prior to joining the Examination Practice group, Jeremy was a patent examiner in the Biotechnology Division starting from 2009.
Jeremy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and obtained his Ph.D. in Biophysics and Structural Biology from Brandeis University. He performed post-doctoral research at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Washington.
