Scott Vasudev has been the Director of Patent Policy and International Affairs at the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) for over a decade. Scott is responsible for leading the evolution of Canadian administrative patent law within both a national and global context. Scott and his team work to ensure that the various components of the Canadian patent framework are effective and efficient and achieve an appropriate balance between the rights of inventors and the interest of the public. Scott also provides substantive support to the Commissioner of Patents and the Attorney General of Canada on patent litigation files.
Scott began his patent career at CIPO in 1993 as a Patent Classification Examiner and a Project Officer responsible for the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
Scott has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carleton University.
