Todd joined CIPO as the Director of the Copyright and Industrial Design Branch in November 2016. The Branch is responsible for administering copyright and industrial design rights in Canada.
Todd started his public service career in 1999 in the international trade field, first at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and then at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), working on various Canada-U.S. trade policy issues and regional and multilateral negotiations. He later served in the Deputy Minister’s Office at AAFC providing executive leadership for policy and corporate coordination across the entire agriculture and agri-food portfolio. In 2013, Todd established a Portfolio Office at Industry Canada in the Deputy Minister’s Office, focusing on key advisory functions such as GIC appointments and Parliamentary Affairs.
Todd has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Western and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Carleton University.
