Rita Davie

Rita Davie has been with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office since 2019 and is currently acting as Director of Trademarks Examination at the Trademarks and Industrial Designs Branch (TIDB). She is responsible for ensuring that trademark examiners are supported to deliver timely and quality service to clients and she is continuously developing strategies to improve both employee and client experience. Rita has held several roles at TIDB, including acting as Deputy Director of the Quality and Continuous Development Unit, spearheading the training of large cohorts of new trademark examiners; Senior Policy and Legislation Analyst, contributing to the development of new trademark practices and policies; and as Deputy Director of Trademarks Examination overseeing national, international and post-registration teams. Rita holds a law degree from the University of British Columbia and was called to the Yukon bar in 2015.
