Jeffrey Orser is the Senior Director, Patent Services and Strategic Affairs, responsible for strategic and operational planning, training, information technology functions, quality management, and operational functions within the Patent Branch. A Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) employee since 2003, he was previously the Director General of the Services to Business Branch, responsible for the development and implementation of the CIPO’s overall service strategy, as well as leading the design and delivery of new products and services to improve the awareness and education of Intellectual Property (IP). He has also previously occupied numerous managerial positions with the Patent and Trademark Branches related to the delivery of high-quality and timely IP rights.
He is a member of the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents’ Registration Committee and prior to joining CIPO worked as an Integrated Circuit Designer for a small-start up that built rule-based network classification semiconductor devices.
Jeffrey holds a Bachelor’s of Applied Science (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Ottawa.
